PHOTO BOOK EXHIBITION & AWARD

  • Date -
  • 8 p.m.
  • Place
    Festival Centre

Still one of the most important analogue media to convey photographic works and projects in a high-quality way, the photo book occupies a central role in photography. In order to illustrate the continuing relevance and significance of the photo book in the digital age, FOTO WIEN will present a photo book exhibition at the festival headquarters.

Photographers, artists and publishers are invited to submit photo books published within the last two years (2017–2019) for the exhibition. Be it handmade book dummies, outstanding exhibition catalogues, self-published publications, books from established publishing houses, or zines – the best photo books of the past two years will be presented at the FOTO WIEN festival headquarters.

PHOTO BOOK EXHIBITION
Outstanding publications will be selected from among all entries, and will be on display at the FOTO WIEN festival headquarters from 21 March to 6 April 2019. Visitors are invited to browse through the books and get to know dozens of international photo projects.

PHOTO BOOK AWARD 2019
An international jury will select three winners from among the photo books shown in the exhibition. The first place will be awarded a prize money of 1,500 euros, the second and third place 750 euros each. The prize is sponsored by Galerie OstLicht, Vienna, and the books will be added to OstLicht’s publicly accessible photo book collection after the exhibition.

Exhibition run: 21.03. – 06.04.2019
Opening: 20.03.2019, 8 p. m.
