Clothing on queer bodies – under water – is the starting point of the photo series Dissolving Textures. In her examination of the appearance of textiles in water, Martina Mina turns photography into a magical moment. Fashion that moulds itself after the body is softened, and clear contours dissolve.
“It is the changing relationship between body and fabric textures, that is of interest here. The functionality and interpretation of this relationship is reassessed: immersed in water, the interplay of textures turns into a sensual game of textiles put onto and pulled into skin. Employing disposable photography, snippets of this dynamic are captured, and the tension between dissolving textures and fragmentary contours becomes visible in its unpredictability.” (Tetris)
