Generation Wealth by Lauren Greenfield is a postcard from America, a portrait of a materialistic, consumer- and image-obsessed culture and an essay on our contemporary society. At the same time, the film is a very personal journey for the photographer and director – she takes us deep into the world of the rich, beautiful and powerful, depicting the excesses of the global turbo-growth economy, of the corrupt American dream, of narcissism and greed.
Greenfield’s dense and at the same time entertainingly narrated documentary observes people whose desire for prosperity has become the driving force in their lives. Generation Wealth saw its first screening at the renowned Sundance Film Festival 2018, and its European premiere at the Berlinale in the section Panorama Documents.
