The Wissenschaftliche Kabinett presents a selection of the impressive large format photogravures from the Atlas Photographique de la Lune. This extraordinary photographic atlas of the moon was published by the French-Austrian astronomer Maurice (Moritz) Loewy (15 April 1833 in Vienna – 15 October 1907 in Paris) together with the French astronomer Pierre Henri Puiseux (20 July 1855 in Paris – 28 September 1928 in Paris). The work was published between 1896 and 1910 in twelve parts with an index volume and contains the most outstanding photographs of the moon to date.
