At the art space OpenCave, newly opened in 2018 in Kaisermühlen, the ÖL artist collective will conduct an experiment involving the participation of the public. The theme of the project is dealing with the growing scarcity of material and non-material resources. In this case, a wall surface of the OpenCave functions as the “scarce resource.” Interested parties can attach their own photographic works – printed on A3 poster paper – at a location of their choice. As the number of posters increases, it will become unavoidable to paste new posters over existing ones, which demands decisions from the actors. How are these decisions made? Does this process create something common, something bigger? Layer by layer the wall will develop, existing constellations will be completed, covered, reworked, changed, supplemented, counteracted, affirmed or negated.
It is unclear how these processes will play out, and the development will be documented step by step photographically.
