The exhibition Spuren/Traces presents works by the Chinese artist Wan Xia (born 1962) and the Polish illustrator Jarek Grulkowski (born 1983).

Wan Xia’s photographs are taken in everyday places spread across the continents. He arranges series of photographs – all taken from almost the same angle – into a single, extended work. The perspective is extended by the linear sequence of the individual photographs, creating photographic objects that show China’s megacities as well as places in nature.

Jarek Grulkowski designs his graphite drawings photorealistically. They show different textures – delicate and soft curves or torn, textile-like stripes. The drawings are reminiscent of the enlarged parts of a strongly illuminated photo negative and bring into relief details that are usually overlooked. With their works, both artists stimulate the search for traces.
