Linear TV programming with its fixed schedule and linear sequence is an incomprehensible anachronism for younger viewers. They are used to the simultaneousness of streaming services like Netflix & Co which can be consumed individually at any time. Missing out on some media content becomes impossible. Past and future blur into a subjective unit of experience – just like a strong zoom moves distant objects closer together in the visual perspective.
Streaming reality_die Gleichzeitigkeit von Dingen (Streaming Reality_the Simultaneousness of Things) allows artists to bring temporally diverging things onto one level: For example, an old curved street lamp that produces a circle of light again, moving the functional past into the ambience of current dysfunctionality. An image gathering several family generations, in which pasts and futures become blurred in the present. Plant leaves that fight with their shadows for interpretive sovereignty. Adults with children’s toys, because in life’s streaming service childlike behaviour patterns can be called up any time.
