Photobook Exhibition

The photo book is an important analogue medium
for the high-quality communication of photographic
works and projects. To illustrate the continuing rel-
evance and importance of the photo book in the
digital age, FOTO WIEN has invited photographers,
artists and publishing companies to submit the
photo books they have published over the past
three years so they can be showcased at the photo
book exhibition and compete for the 2022 Photo
Book Prize. Of more than 450 entries sent in from
32 countries, the best publications – ranging from
documentary approaches to conceptual explora-
tions – were selected for the exhibition at Festival
headquarter. Handmade publications, book mock-
ups, exceptional artist’s books, books released by
publishing companies as well as self-published
books – the more than 100 photo books featured
at the exhibition reflect the sheer diversity and the
vibrancy of the medium. Visitors are invited to
browse through the publications, discover new
photographers and immerse themselves in the
multifaceted cosmos of the photo-book medium.
